The Secret Behind The Watch

Shrouded in mystery, the secret behind the watch is never spoken about at anything above a whisper. And even those who speak of it, speak of it with great reluctance.

"It's one of those hush-hush topics, yet one of infinite curiosity. I could tell you more, but then I'd have to kill you," he said.

I couldn't tell if he was joking or if he was serious. But I can tell you one thing, I wasn't about to find out.

There is a password for those brave enough to explore. Reverse these lettters Skagen watchesand go to the center of the square at 4 pm on the first full moon of each month. There you'll meet an elderly man by the name of Igor, a pleasant fellow who spent his younger days crafting old world watch pieces.

Game Nights Are A Classic Way To Entertain

Game nights are one of my favorite forms of home entertainment. They are simple to pull together. Whether you invite friends for dinner or just dessert, whether you handle all the food preparations yourself or make it potluck... you have the ingredients for a hassle-free night of fun.

Looking for just the right card or poker tables? Check out American Gaming Supply.

Quality of Life In A Tree-Huggers Paradise

Wheezing and sneezing is a common ailment around these parts, especially during high-pollen seasons.

But with a pulse oximeter one need not miss out on all the beauty that our region has to offer.

Here is a site that makes a portable nebulizer that is worth investigating. It just might add immeasurably to the quality of your life in this tree-hugger's paradise we call Tallahassee.

Help For The Style-Challenged

Always let your own sense of style and imagination guide you. At some point along your journey you will develop your own trademark style. For some of us it comes along early in life. For others, we might find ourselves style-challenged.

Style was never a shortfall of mine. I've always known what I liked and what I didn't. But I can empathize with those who are weak in this area, as I am weak in other areas, many of which you are probably strong.

One of my best suggestions would be to start a style box filled with clippings and photos of rooms and designs that speak to you. Another suggestion is to carry your digital camera with you at all times and snap photos of things you like.

Eventually a greater sense of style should emerge that is true to your personal tastes.

Organizing Chaotic Creativity

The creative works we share with the world are what we leave for posterity. They are like fingerprints upon history.

What fingerprints are you leaving? Looking for a creative way to assemble your portfolio of work?

I find that a jaunt to Office Depot for office supplies does wonders for my ability to organize my chaotic creativity.

When I can put everything in neat little compartments, my creativity finds more freedom to roam through the uncharted regions of my mind.

Like I said in the previous post, I blog on a wide variety of different products. While many of my postings are for products that I am well acquainted with, occasionally my blog assignments take on a new flavor shrouded in the mysterious unknown.

I have never taken Ephedra or at least I don't think I have. Actually I need to check the ingredient list for my vitamin and supplements.

At any rate I have heard that Ephedra works. Have you had any experience with it? Please feel free to post your results in the comments section.

The Best Visibility

"The best visibility is not generally advertising. Most restaurants don't advertise. It's expensive and only provides paid exposure- a set image and words. PR is different. It is unpaid editorial coverage and the numerous venues leave room for more creative opportunities. " ~ Lynn Schwartz from an interview with Laura Lehrman, Lehrman & Chin Public Relations, NYC

Should innovative restaurants and chefs hire a publicist? Absolutely! A food publicist knows how to keep her clients visible through community events, television, radio and written materials.

Who better to know hospitality public relations in Tallahassee and the capital region of North Florida than someone who has the background and expertise from both sides.

Food writer, newspaper columnist, photo stylist, culinary publicist and pr consultant Kathi Dameron honed her culinary skills before and during her tenure as the CEO, event designer and chef/owner of Canopy Rose Catering and Special Events. After closing Canopy Rose to concentrate on a writing career, she took the time to revisit her passion for creative marketing and public relations that had originally led her in the late 1970's to study and work in New York City.

Kathi soon found herself working on creative editorial projects for magazines and corporate blogs, selling advertising and setting up viral marketing campaigns.

By May 2006, she landed the opportunity to write her own regular newspaper column, Entertaining with Kathi for the Northeast Chronicle, a bi-weekly community publication of the Gannett-owned Tallahassee Democrat.

Today through her latest venture, Kathi Dameron and Associates, Kathi is engaged in exciting culinary collaborations. These collaborations are designed to make the clients of Kathi Dameron and Associates shine through such areas as:

Menu Development
Press Releases
Newsletters
Print and Internet Articles
Blogs & Websites

and other exciting out-of-the-box strategies that stir the imagination!

Looking for light fixtures for home or business?

As usual, I am going to advocate that you browse online. You will find the largest selection in the price point that fits your pocketbook.

The Internet selection is dazzling!

In the past when I've shopped for lighting, I always ended up in the catalogues because the stores carried such a limited selection in the showroom.

So why not head straight on over to the Internet showroom and save your time and gas.
Shopping for announcements?

Well, there really is no reason to perch in the corner of a crowded shop. I've found that my time spent shopping for stationary, cards, invitations and announcements is far more productive when done from the comfort of my own home office.

I love the way that the Internet has put business solutions right at our fingertips.
Who would have ever thought it would be so difficult to buy insurance in this state? I remember the days when insurance salespeople would call and send promotional literature on a regular basis.

Recently, I was talking with a friend who owns an insurance agency in town and discovered that his company can not write any new policies in Florida.

I suppose like so many other things, we need to get online and surf for the best possible insurance rates and providers. Further down on this blog, you'll find a link to the fairly new Florida Insurance website set up by the governor's office.

Looking for term insurance, click on the link and check this company out. I have not purchased insurance from them, but they are one of the companies that utilize the power of the blogosphere to spread the word about their insurance products.
The e-mail said, "Kathi, I discovered your Tallahassee Property Showcase blog through some Internet research I was doing. What a great way to promote real estate property. Could you set up a real estate showcase blog for Wilmington NC real estate?"

"Absolutely!" I responded. "My blogs and blog postings span the globe. I also write articles for syndication, press releases, website content and much more. I would be happy to set up a Wilmington North Carolina Real Estate blog for you."
Shopping for window coverings? Sometimes the Internet offers the best possible decorating solutions for items for the home. Not only do you save gas and valuable time, but in a brief amount of time you can peruse several different online shops. Measurement is a breeze, too!

Take blinds for example. The first place I visited was Blinds Chalet online and found everything I was looking for in one convenient place.
Looking for a solution to stop the interference caused by electromagnetic disturbance?

What you need is EMI Shielding.

EMI stands for Electromagnetic Interference. RFI stands for Radio Frequency Interference.

Both of these can cause an interruption in your home or workplace electronic devices. Shields are a common way to stop the interruption.

With a hefty settlement stashed in the bank, the New Yorker decided the time had come to leave the concrete city and head to the land of live oaks and spanish moss.

Driving along Tallahassee's fabled canopy roads, he approached an estate that called his name.

The good news was that the Leon County Florida property was for sale. In the flat market, he could purchase it for a song and still live in style for the rest of his days because of the extraordinary wind-fall he had received by hiring a top-notch New York personal injury lawyer.

"That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard!" I said with the sound of utter disgust in my voice.

I was engaged in a conversation with a friend who was telling me that she was shopping for a radar detector for her 16 year-old son.

"If you give him a radar detector, you are saying that it is ok to speed. You would be enabling him to do something that could lead to tragic consequences."

"I never thought about that." She responded.

Hopefully, she scratched the idea of the radar detector and instead talked with him about safe and responsible driving and not breaking any laws when he got behind the wheel of his expensive new truck.

Finding just the right bathroom sinks is a breeze when you know where to look.

Sure you can go to your local home improvement shop, Home Depot, Lowe's or designer bath and kitchen center, but nothing beats the convenience of browsing online.

After you peruse a cross-section of your choices, then go check them out at a local store.

Finding the right real estate broker can be a real challenge.

Where do you begin? Word-of-mouth? The yellow pages? The Internet? Florida Real Estate Associations?

What criteria should you look for in a broker? A proven track record, exemplary customer service, availability, expertise?

A google search could bring up a list of what to look for when selecting your broker.

At a time when there are record foreclosures on homes around the country, luxury home sales around the country are booming.

What a huge gulf between the haves and the have nots of our world.

Someone supposedly asked God why HE didn't give the world enough food.

His response was, He did, "when are you going to start sharing," he asked.

Do we have a responsibility to share with those less fortunate? Should we sacrifice life's luxuries to help a family member, a friend or even a stranger in need? This can be a tough question, especially for those who cling so tight to what they have. "Mine, mine, mine," they say as they wrap their arms around their stuff.

I think that as a people in this country, we focus far too much on this world and not nearly enough on the eternal world. For when we focus on the eternal world, our priorities become HIS priorities. Our joy becomes His joy. We no longer need luxury homes, yachts, and the best of everything that the world has to offer to make us feel good about who we are.

Kathi Wins Writing Award

Canopy Rose owner, Kathi Dameron has won the 2nd Place Award in the Newspaper Article Category at the 2008 Southern Christian Writer's Conference in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for her article, Simple Act of Sharing Food Can Truly Bring People Together. This article appeared in the Northeast Chronicle - Tallahassee Democrat during the spring of 2008 in the Entertaining with Kathi column.

Grand Prize Winner In Cooking Contest

The year was 1987 when Kathi Dameron, a passionate gourmet cook who spent her days teaching 32 second graders, and her weekends hosting fun parties for her circle of friends at her waterfront home on Florida's North Hutchinson Island, won two prizes in the first cooking contest she ever entered. One of these prizes was the coveted Grand Prize. At that moment Kathi knew that one day in the not too distant future her special dream to launch her very own catering company would be realized. Seven years later that day arrived with the birth of Canopy Rose in Florida's Capital City in 1994.
